Highlights on AMA Waterways River Cruises

We all know that I just love my river cruises..  here is a great river cruise company, AMA Waterways and a little background on their company and style of cruising… enjoy!

AmaWaterways specializes in fascinating itineraries and personalized service on the rivers of Europe. Their sailings offer a relaxing way to explore the continent — guests check in, unpack once and then sail into the heart of Old World capitals and picturesque villages.

AmaWaterways’ ships on the Danube, Rhine, Main and Mosel feature spacious staterooms with French balconies, plush bedding, complimentary bottled water, marble-appointed baths with multi-jet showers, and in-room “Infotainment” systems with TV and complimentary movies and Internet access. There’s also free Wi-Fi in public areas.  That is a great “PLUS” for travelers that want to keep in contact with their family and friends and download those all important vacation photos right onto their Facebook pages!

The vessels have wellness centers with fitness equipment, sauna, whirlpool, a beauty salon and masseuse, plus a jogging track. A fleet of bicycles gives passengers the freedom to explore towns on their own. Onboard tour managers keep guests informed of daily events, while expert local guides lead the included tours in each destination.

We love the availability of the bikes on board.. many of the rivers have paved walking/riding paths right alongside… recently in Lyon we rode bikes up and to the Zoo and their city’s Garden.. it was a beautiful ride and a great way of burning off some of those French pastries!

Onboard meals emphasize local ingredients and freshly caught seafood. Guests enjoy free-flowing complimentary local wines, as well as complimentary beer and soft drinks with dinner, champagne with the daily breakfast buffet, and specialty coffees throughout the day.

AmaWaterways has also developed a new series of Wine Cruises. These November departures showcase the winemaking traditions of towns along the Rhine, Danube and Mosel. Wine experts host each sailing, which features onboard lectures, wine tastings and wine-themed shore excursions.

This year, AmaWaterways has introduced a series of Jewish Heritage Cruises in Europe. Three departures on the Danube River in August and November will highlight centuries-old traditions as well as modern-day museums and monuments that preserve the region’s rich Jewish legacy. Complimentary tours include visits to synagogues, historic Jewish districts and other landmarks, like the home of Oskar Schindler in Regensburg and the New Jewish Cemetery in Prague, where novelist Franz Kafka is buried.

AmaWaterways also brings its river cruise expertise to Southeast Asia.  Vietnam, Cambodia & the Riches of the Mekong is a 16-day land and cruise package that starts with two nights in Hanoi, followed by an overnight stay on a luxurious wooden junk in Halong Bay and three nights in Siem Reap, gateway to the Angkor Wat temple complex. Then, guests take a weeklong cruise on the intriguing and historic Mekong River. The trip ends with two nights in Ho Chi Minh City.

There is never a dull moment on a river cruise!  Check out my recent trips and photos on my Champagne Vacations Facebook page.  And as always if you have any questions on AMA Waterways or any of the travel stories on our blog feel free to call us at 888-877-8464 or email us at info@achampagnevacation.com  or lastly search for specials on our Champagne Vacations website.
